I’m Harry Heathfield, Manager of Controls Engineering at TAIT’s Wakefield office, leading a team that delivers safety-critical automation and show-control systems across live entertainment, visitor attractions, and theme parks. My work spans touring productions for some of the biggest names in rock and roll, as well as high-profile permanent installations, including Adele, MSC Cruisline, and Skylift at Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Centre.
As a manager, my priority is my team and their well-being, development, and working environment, so they can do their best work. As an Engineer, I focus on compliance, functional safety, and delivery, setting clear governance, strengthening review discipline, and ensuring the technical file and safety evidence are built as the engineering progresses.
I’m a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and European Engineer (EUR ING), a Member of the IET (MIET), and a TÜV Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE). I serve as a Control Systems Expert on BSI’s MHE/3/13 technical committee, contributing to EN 17206 safety standards for lifting and stage machinery used across film, broadcast, theatre, concerts, and live events.
My academic background includes an MSc in Engineering Management, an HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and a BA (Hons) in Live Production.
